With a grant from KDHE and a focus on sustainability, the University of Kansas redesigns parking lot 54, just north of Allen Field House.  Our design team redesigned the parking lot layout to accommodate an application of pervious concrete and take advantage of the existing slope.  The new parking lot is now more accessible, more attractive and environmentally-friendly.  In addition to some new large shade trees, the parking lot islands are designed to utilize the storm water through a series of chambers for transport.  The rain garden at the lowest elevation provided an opportunity for all of us to get our hands our hands dirty!
