Contracted with the University of Kansas Endowment Foundation, Landworks Studio led a team of architects to design improvements to the pedestrian experience at the west terminus of Jayhawk Boulevard at the historic Chi Omega Fountain. The goal for the conceptual phase of this work is provide design inspiration to engage a donor for construction.
With the completion of Jayhawk Blvd. improvements, improving the aesthetics and pedestrian connection at the round-about is a desire of the university. The new design provides for signage while also offering a venue for gathering and sitting. The view to the campanile is opened up with this design to enhance the visual connection and placemaking. Material selection was important. Durability is a consideration, as is relevancy and appropriate campus context.
