The University of Kansas looked to Landworks Studio to provide a master plan for Campus West, including service buildings on Campus West, expansion of the South Gate area and an update to the entire Campus West Master Plan. The design team considered existing topography, available infrastructure and programming requirements for the planned buildings as part of the plan.
Landworks Studio first focused on design services for a new architectural design/build studio next to Yankee Tank Creek. The vision considered both visual and sustainable benefits, with the use of a natural vegetated drainage channel to slow storm water run-off and filter the sediment and pollutants prior to entering the creek.
The project also included the future of the undeveloped property around Becker Drive on Campus West. The team produced conceptual plans for future development, using software that easily and cost-effectively modifies the master plan to be responsive to new proposals and requests for future building projects.
