Landworks Studio was part of a design team selected by the City of Lawrence to master plan and prepare construction documents for a new police department headquarters and adjacent neighborhood park on a vacant 29-acre piece of property. Located in the northwest corner of Lawrence near the intersection of W. 6th Street and Wakarusa Drive, the project site was owned by the City and had long been earmarked for park and recreation uses.
Through multiple community meetings as well as design charrettes with both police and park department staff, LWS developed a master plan which provides the City with a phased development approach for police and park facilities. The first phase will commence construction in the summer of 2019.
