Landworks Studio was hired by the City of Olathe to design a neighborhood park in the Parkhill Manor subdivision. The empty lots were filled to be pad sites for homes, however, the property was set aside for a park. As the property fronts onto a classified wetland, the park was designed to take full advantage of the water, plant materials and tree canopy already existing. A bike path is currently being constructed through this area, as well, so we worked closely with the design team for the trail to ensure seamless coordination. The approach to this park design is to continue to provide an opportunity for children and adults to interact with nature, as they are currently doing on the property during high water events.
