Landworks Studio, in collaboration with Water Resource Solutions and the City of Prairie Village, addressed a decades-long stormwater issue in a residential neighborhood near Delmar Lane and Fontana Street. Through individual homeowner meetings facilitated by the City’s stormwater engineer, we gathered feedback and presented 28 design concepts to ensure both functional and aesthetic success across 12 properties.
The green channel design required plants that could withstand both flooding and drought, remain low-growing for stormwater flow, demand minimal maintenance, and appeal to residents accustomed to ornamental landscapes. The final planting palette includes liriope, carpet bugle, blue rug juniper, and daylilies—balancing performance with neighborhood character.
This project blends stormwater BMP design with meaningful public engagement and represents Landworks Studio’s continued growth into residential-scale solutions.
