We are proud to have partnered with the City of Lawrence and Hoefer Welker to transform a 29-acre vacant site at W. 6th Street and Wakarusa Drive into a new civic anchor for the community. Landworks Studio led the site’s master planning, creating a phased vision for both park and municipal uses. The plan was shaped through community meetings and collaborative design charrettes with police and parks staff.
The resulting 52,000 SF police headquarters consolidates operations under one roof, promoting efficiency and collaboration. Outdoor site amenities include gathering areas, a future neighborhood park, and a prominent public art feature. This milestone project showcases the power of thoughtful planning and public input in creating safer, more connected civic spaces.
