The City of Lawrence selected a team led by Landworks Studio to master plan and design this 3,000-square foot spray ground in Lyons Park. This was the second spray ground the city had installed but the first to be managed under a traditional design-bid-build project delivery method. The design process included a charrette with park and recreation staff, two in-person neighborhood meetings, and the customary city planning and permitting review and approval process. The ultimate design, which included space designed and set aside for a separate playground renovation, wrapped up in less than 9 months and remained within the city’s budget for the project. Landworks Studio provided construction administration services during the 8-month installation.
