Landworks Studio partnered with Patrick Mahomes’ 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, Kansas City Parks and Recreation, and Gunter Construction to design and deliver the first phase of a transformative renovation to Martin Luther King Jr. Square Park. This inclusive, destination playground promotes civil rights education and provides a safe, welcoming space where children of all abilities can play together.
Working closely with playground manufacturer Kompan, Landworks Studio shaped a custom layout that balances inclusivity, accessibility, durability, and ease of maintenance. Key features include a large net play structure, accessible spinner, musical elements, swings, shade, and a synthetic turf mound with integrated climbing and slide features. This new playground serves as a joyful, meaningful resource for children and families in the surrounding community.
