Landworks Studio collaborated closely with Lee’s Summit Parks & Recreation and neighborhood residents to develop a master plan for Pleasant Lea Park that honors the existing character of this beloved park while adding imaginative new features. Building on assets like the mature trees, winding trail, and open meadow, the plan introduces a treehouse-inspired play structure, interactive pocket play areas, a shelter, and a boardwalk with a dry riverbed.
The tennis courts will be upgraded into flexible multi-sport courts, and native meadows will replace large turf areas to reduce maintenance and foster habitat. A dynamic creek crossing featuring limestone slabs and a swinging bridge invites users of all ages to explore and interact with nature. This plan celebrates the landscape while offering play and adventure at every turn.
